Constitution Park

About Constitution Park

Constitution Park is a city park situated in the heart of historic Dover, 5 miles east of the Delaware Bayshore Byway itself. The park serves as a commemoration of Delaware’s ratification of the United States Constitution. In this brick corner, you’ll find seating, plaques, and a stunning metal sculpture set amongst Delaware granite stones.

Once you arrive at the park, your eyes will instantly be drawn to the large cube-and-feather of stainless steel and bronze at the center of the plaza. This sculpture is rich with symbolism, from the stars of the thirteen original colonies to the cube’s delicate balance representing the equity ensured by the three branches of the U.S. government. Read more about the sculpture on the City of Dover official webpage.

Additional ground markers and plaques adorning the brick walls of the park display tributes to Delaware’s famous signing of the Constitution and status as the First State. On one wall, for instance, you can read Delaware’s declaration of ratification of the Constitution.
