About The New Castle Visitor Center at The Arsenal

The New Castle Visitor Center at The Arsenal is your source of information, rentals and bookings, and visit planning in historic Old New Castle.

At the Visitor Center housed in the colonial-style Arsenal building, you can buy tickets to other nearby attractions such as the Dutch House Museum. Friendly staff are available to help you customize your New Castle visit and make your stay comfortable and exciting. 

In addition to travel information and advice, you can tour the historic building and watch a quick 8-minute film detailing the town’s origins and evolution. The knowledgeable staff are also happy to provide you with recommendations of local restaurants and shops. And, just down the cobblestone road, you’ll find the New Castle County Courthouse Museum, one of the First State National Historic Park sites, and the Read House, two must-sees on your visit!

If you’re following the Delaware History Trail the New Castle Historic District is one of the locations on it! 

Tours: Tours of the visitor center are available and free upon request from staff. Tours for the Amstel and Dutch House Museums begin at this location, and $5 weekend walking tours around the Historic District from 12 PM to 2 PM.

When open to the public, visitor center admission is free with no tickets required.
