Marvel Saltmarsh Preserve is a 108-acre tract of beautiful tidal salt marsh that you can view up close via an accessible boardwalk. This open landscape is a natural green buffer for the beach community and is an excellent example of the large expanses of saltmarshes that you’ll see along Delaware’s Bayshore.
In the marsh you may see fiddler crabs, blue crabs, grass shrimp, and many species of mollusks and insects. In summer, the sounds of Marsh Wrens, Seaside Sparrows, and Clapper Rails fill the air. Great Egrets, Northern Harriers, and Osprey search for prey. Be sure to look at the constructed nest platform for the opportunity to view an active Osprey nest.
