Vinyard Shipyard is the last of the remaining original Milford shipyards. Workers integral to Milford’s maritime history once lived and worked here along the Mispillion River in the late 19th century and beyond.
Today, several historic boats and yachts have been returned to the Shipyard for restoration and display. One such vessel was The Augusta, the first Vinyard motor yacht built at this site. Over 45 luxury yachts were built from 1927 to 1951, and the Shipyard did not cease shipbuilding and repairs until 1973.
During your visit, you’ll be able to see the shipbuilding rigs and tools, boat launches and docks, and even some historically restored ships once build in Milford. Museum buildings are also located on site to give in depth and hands-on history of the Shipyard.
