Fowler Beach Closures

Goal is to protect shorebirds during season vital to their existence.

Portions of Fowler Beach will be closed for the spring 2024 shorebird beach-nesting and migration season.

This area of Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge includes the bay beach, dunes and back-barrier portions.  The closure benefits the federally and state protected beach-nesting and migratory shorebirds, including red knot, piping plover, oystercatcher, least tern and other species.

When visiting Prime Hook NWR during beach-nesting bird season, please remember to obey all posted signs and barriers.

• Dog walking is prohibited
• These areas are subject to change and/or modification at any time
• The beach nesting habitat will re-open on October 1st for full visitor use

For more information, please call (302) 684-8419 or visit Prime Hook’s website: http://www.fws.gov/refuge/Prime_Hook/. Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge is located just off Route 16 near Broadkill Beach at 11978 Turkle Pond Road, Milton, DE.
