Air Mobility Command Museum

About Air Mobility Command Museum

The Air Mobility Command Museum is a restored World War II hangar containing aircraft & artifacts reflecting history of Dover’s Air Force base and planes.

During WWII, Hangar 1301 was a hub for secret military weapons development, such as the research and testing of rockets. After the war the hangar was repurposed as a base for fighter squadrons until the 1970’s. By the 1990’s, the hangar had been repurposed as a National Historic Place, and eventually became today’s Air Mobility Command Museum.

The museum offers a flight simulator (ages 10+) and hundreds of artifacts ranging from vintage maps to real aircrafts. You are welcome to explore the planes up close and photograph anything. The Air Mobility Command Museum contains a comprehensive list, description, and photograph of the artifacts in the museum’s collection. Questions about the artifacts should be emailed to the Collections Manager at joseph.sellars.ctr@us.af.mil.
