First State Heritage Park

Delaware’s first urban park. The park is surrounded by historic buildings and cultural sites, and features live events, reenactments, and local tours.

Fort DuPont State Park

Fort DuPont is located near Delaware City and offers trails, military building and barracks, as well as picnic and boat launch facilities.

New Castle Battery Park

Dog-friendly urban park with riverfront views open to the public during daylight hours. Includes playground, tennis courts, and restrooms.

Port Penn Wetlands Trail

The trail includes a boardwalk and an actual “Floating Fishing Cabin,” used by fishermen of Port Penn in the recent past. 

The Marvel Saltmarsh Preserve

Beautiful tidal salt marsh that you can view up close via an accessible boardwalk – an excellent example of the salt marshes along Delaware’s Bayshore.

Woodburn House & Gardens

The official residence of the Governor of Delaware since it was purchased by the state in 1965. Offers tours of the Georgian home and gardens.
